The years will be dated as "BD" referring to "Before the Dawn" and AD which is "After the Dawn." This is in reference to when Turner's encounter with Scarface when he declares they are ..."at the dawn of a new age."
42 BD - First Landing 40 BD - Civilization begins 35 BD - Hotels converted into Apartments 20 BD - Poacher "war" 14 BD - "The Great Fire" in the NW Territory, White-Eye created 10 BD - Scarface rejected by White-Eye, Turner joins Rangers 8 BD - Turner takes in Mackenzie 1 AD - Turner encounters Scarface

Yeah that's fine. Nothing is set in stone until we're published. Main component is that "Dawn" takes place 40 years after colonization. Other than that you can modify things. Just inform me of what changes are made.

It can be in Earth years. Just like in the Star Wars universe things are based on the Battle of Yavin they don't actually say it but its a point of reference to the audience. Until Dawn I think they would just refer to things based on Earth Standard time.

I would say it's a good idea to come up with your own time standard. It can be based on our Gregorian calendar, but that way you don't have to specify exactly when in the future this all takes place. You could still make it similar, such as landing happening in 45 IE (Interstellar Era) or something. Just look at the problems Star Trek has continuity wise when we were supposed to have a war with Khan in the late 1990s.
